Our Story

JR Plastics Corporation was founded by James Wear in 1997 in Ocala, Florida. As a family business, the company includes James Wear and his three sons: Jimmy Wear, Jesse Wear, and Daniel Wear.

From the beginning, JR Plastics established a devotion to producing excellent products and service. The company quickly gained a reputation for supplying quality plastic sheets to a variety of industries including tank fabrication, outdoor furniture, boat manufacturers, and more.

James Wear’s vision and inventive nature have led to groundbreaking product developments within and beyond the plastic sheeting industry. Led by James Wear, JR Plastics Corporation successfully developed WEARDECK™, a wood-free composite lumber that offers superior strength and durability. After much growth and expansion of the product, Owens Corning acquired WEARDECK™ in 2022.

In addition to JR Plastics’ contribution to the composite lumber industry, James Wear developed a solution for the rigorous shipping needs of the banana industry. JR Plastics pioneered the first plastic corner post in the market. Known as Banaboard®, the 100% recycled HDPE Plastic corner boards set a new standard for the industry.
